Brief Patent Description - Full Patent Description - Patent Application Claims FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] This invention pertains to the field of utility covers for reservoir bottles, and more particularly to removable utility covers for domestic residential and office fluid-containing reservoir bottles. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0002] The general public has increased bottled water consumption because of its concern for a healthy life style requiring an increased consumption of good, clean water to purge the body of waste products, oxidants, and contaminants. A readily available commercial supply of good tasting bottled water is available in various size bottles, including five (5) gallon bottles and three (3) gallon bottles. Elevated bottled water dispensing stands are provided to the public for setting the large, bulky 5-gallon and the 3-gallon bottles at a reasonable elevation for ease and accommodation in dispensing relatively small amounts of water into drinking glasses or other small portable receptacles for drinking purposes. [0003] Many people are hesitant to drink the common sink tap water because they believe there are health-endangering contaminants in the water. The quality of the municipal water supply serving the general public has become a current major health issue. Often the consumer complains and is concerned about the smell of chlorine, bad taste, and various water impurities when the common tap water is boiled for coffee, tea, or other water supplemented drinks. [0004] Public questioning about their common tap water supply includes the original source of the water, possible contaminants, chlorination, bacteria, plumbing connections, and lead contamination from lead joints and chrome sink fixtures, to name just a few of the many public concerns and issues, and further, includes possible deleterious public water utility additives and possible cancer causing agents. [0005] Thus, the general public has increasingly turned to the purchase of high quality, purified bottled water to supplement, and in some cases, fully replace the local public utility district drinking water, instead of drinking the tap water and serving sink tap water to their children and to themselves. This purchased, supplemental drinking water is usually bought in one of several modes, such as pre-bottled water delivered in containers having been refilled from one of many commercially available, bottled water distribution sources. The owner of a personal reservoir water bottle can refill his/her personal reservoir bottle as many times as desired. [0006] This fact is visually evident by the development of water-dedicated stores, the presence of water dispensing machines located in supermarkets, and the substantial space dedicated by many food markets to the profitable sale of the numerous commercial brands of premium bottled water as seen on food market store shelves and the booming business generated by the home and business delivery of pre-bottled water. Presently, pre-filled and refillable water dispensers are commonly found in both the public and the private sectors, i.e. in businesses, offices, private homes, private and public cafeterias. [0007] Increasingly, as the public has turned to the purchase of pre-filled and refillable 5-gallon and 3-gallon water containers for its drinking water supply, the public has determined that the 5-gallon and the 3-gallon water bottle sizes are the physical volumes that satisfy most family's personal convenience requirements and provide a sufficient supply volume of water to last for an acceptable, new bottle replacement or refill time span period, at the end of which time, the bottle is either refilled or replaced with another full bottle. The 5-gallon water bottle size is commonly used in industry, business, and private office areas. The 5-gallon or 3-gallon container is usually placed in a kitchen or business area for handy, convenient access usage, but where and when conveniently located, the water container may appear unsightly, and also may be subject to the hazards of light degeneration, bacterial growth, accidental turnover, and potential accidental spillage or the knock-over probability caused by the larger 5-gallon water bottle's weight and elevated height. [0008] The public has, furthermore, become aware and concerned about possible public emergencies, such as nuclear bombs, terrorist activities, and national calamities, and thus there is a public desire to have an emergency portable water supply convenient for such emergencies and readily available, on hand, in the kitchen or business for immediate emergency supplemental use. [0009] The inventor has determined that the placing of his specialized replaceable, slip-over utility bottle cover for the handy reservoir water bottle is aesthetically pleasing, decorative, and identifies the bottle for immediate visibility recognition, thus protecting the water in the water reservoir bottle from accidental spillage and tipping over, and also reduces quality degradation from light-induced bacterial growth. [0010] Furthermore, at any given time, it is desirous to be able to determine visibly the specific volume level in the reservoir water for replacement purposes. Therefore, the inventor's utility fluid reservoir bottle cover is made with a volume visibility level slit opening, fluid level indicator in the sidewall section of the utility fluid bottle cover assembly to allow visual gauging of the presently available, liquid level in the refillable fluid reservoir bottle. The visibility slit opening may be opened to provide visibility of the fluid content level in the fluid reservoir bottle, but the slit opening can be stretched shut when not in use by having the vertical side edges constructed of an elastic or closable nature. Some refillable 3 and 5-gallon water bottles have a handle for ease when transporting the water reservoir bottle. The sight cover water level slit opening is of sufficient length to also allow the bottle handle to be accessed and hand grasped, and the bottle carried without the need to remove the bottle cover for transporting or refilling. [0011] While the need for a removable, utility cover for water reservoir bottles has been recognized for many years, removable covers which have been available for that purpose have not been entirely satisfactory. Typically, available covers are constructed simply as a bottle jacket slipover. This, however, leaves portions of the bottle unsightly exposed and doesn't provide an aesthetical complete enclosure to more completely envelop the bottle, and also to supplementally provide handy accesible storage shelving accessory fixture space affixed directly on the bottle. [0012] Conventionally fluid reservoir bottles are unable to receive, contain, and conveniently provide additional storage for utility items commonly and frequently used in the kitchen or business. A tray accessory fixture when removably attached to the top of the utility bottle cover, increases a room's usable, flat, table surface area for accommodating small utility items commonly used on a daily basis, and in the need of a hand home resting location. [0013] To facilitate operational use, the cover is generally of a box-like enclosure construction with an elastic spring-type or flexible expandable top and bottom. Additionally, the utility bottle covers may be pleated for expandability to increase their capacity or storage, and to hide the fluid level visibility slit that provides for periodic viewing of the fluid content level of the fluid reservoir bottle. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0014] This invention relates to a removable utility bottle cover assembly for externally covering a refillable fluid reservoir bottle with the bottle cover assembly being provided with a dual action, releasable element subassembly having one side fastened on the bottle cover surface for attaching a detachable accessory fixture subassembly. Specifically, the invention provides a flexible utility fluid bottle cover with an aesthetically pleasing covering that has additional practical features for utility use in the office and home, and that enables easy reservoir bottle access for dispensing fluid from the fluid reservoir bottle without first removing the reservoir bottle from the utility fluid bottle cover assembly. At the same time, when the utility fluid bottle cover is in place over the fluid bottle, the bottle is readily transportable and may at times be leg-supported in an elevated position by supplemental legged handles attached to the fluid reservoir bottle and connected to the bottle cover for enabling the dispensing of fluid directly by gravity from the fluid reservoir bottle discharge outlet end. [0015] When the utility bottle cover is assembled over the fluid reservoir bottle, a detachable carrying handle, in combination with a utility tray member, provides supplemental additional features for the bottle cover that are in addition to the standard feature commonly associated with a water bottle of simply dispensing fluid from a convenient fluid reservoir bottle that operates only as a supplemental pure water source or a flammable gas source. [0016] The utility fluid bottle cover enclosure may be constructed cylindrically, spherically, rectangularly, or in a football shape to thus provide a flexible-sided, bag-like external bottle cover having a walled internal cavity for substantially full enclosure of the fluid reservoir bottle, and that is sized to internally receive and cover a utility fluid reservoir bottle filled with potable water or, in the alternative, be adapted as a bottle covering for a portable propane bottle gas reservoir. The circumferentially enclosing bottle cover extends substantially around at least one end of the water reservoir or propane reservoir bottle, and the utility fluid bottle cover can be easily opened or removed for fluid reservoir bottle access, thus enabling a new refilled fluid reservoir bottle to be periodically inserted or removed for refilling and maintenance purposes. The exterior facing surface of the removable utility fluid bottle cover is usually constructed of a flexible fabric composition that may be stitched at selected seam locations while the interior surface may include a second fabric composition, if desired, with an impervious liner for containment of the fluid reservoir bottle. [0017] Fastened to the exterior surface of the utility fluid bottle cover assembly is a dual surfaced, releasable element subassembly that, when not in use, is ornamental and decorative, but when in use has an outward facing surface that releasably attaches to a supplemental accessory fixture subassembly for secondary attachment use with the utility fluid bottle cover assembly. [0018] A handle subassembly may include supplemental plastic handles that extend from an area below the cover top section and that are secured about the exterior of the bottle cover to extend across and under the bottom end so as to enable the utility fluid bottle cover, with the reservoir bottle in place, to be hand-carried with convenience. [0019] The fluid reservoir bottle cover can be designed with a fabric material that protects the fluid reservoir water bottle contents from light, discourages staleness, mold and mildew, and provides ease in monitoring the fluid content level, and further, insulates the reservoir fluid contained therein. These construction fabric materials usually include, but are not restricted to cotton, nylon, wool, plastic, and other commonly available commercial materials. External artwork or designs, with surface releasable features, when fastened onto the utility fluid bottle cover assembly external surface may vary and can be applied to any portion of visibly exposed bottle cover surface area. [0020] The utility fluid bottle cover assembly features a distinctive slotted slit visibility feature. This slotted slit visibility feature has multiple purposes; one is to enable an observer to view the fluid level in the reservoir bottle, while the other is to permit the user to have manual access to be able to grasp the reservoir bottle's exterior molded handle for the purpose of transporting the reservoir bottle for refilling or maintenance purposes, without having the chore of first removing the reservoir bottle cover. [0021] The bottle cover may be reversible and include different patterns or materials on the reverse side, when turned inside out. Continue reading...
