Two-in-one reinforced geogrid

USPTO Application #: 20080260464
Title: Two-in-one reinforced geogrid
Abstract: A two-in-one reinforced geogrid includes a primary fabric and a non-woven fabric fixed onto the primary fabric to together with the primary fabric produce an enhanced retaining strength. The non-woven fabric has a plurality of fine pores, which have sizes allowing water but not sand and grit to pass therethrough, and therefore effectively avoid river silting and mudflows. The two-in-one reinforced geogrid is convenient for using on different land surfaces, and may be advantageously folded and fixed at a slope to stabilize the land structure. (end of abstract)

  monitor keywords FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a reinforced geogrid, and more particularly to a two-in-one reinforced geogrid that has enhanced retaining strength and allows water but not sand and grit to pass therethrough.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A conventional geogrid 10 is shown in FIG. 1. The geogrid 10 includes a plurality of large meshes, which are formed by polyester bundles 11 arranged in warp and weft directions to intersect with one another. In the large meshes, a plurality of small meshes 12 is further formed by weaving a plurality of warp and weft material, so as to stop and retain mud and stone.

When the geogrid 10 is used at slopes, fine sand and grit may still pass through the small meshes 12. Since the small meshes 12 are formed by weaving thinner warp and weft material, they do not provide sufficient retaining strength to stop excessive amount of sand and grit and tend to break. Sand and grit passing through the geogrid 10 via the small meshes 12 result in river silting and mudflows. In brief, the conventional geogrid 10 fails to provide the function of soil and water reservation. When a non-woven fabric having smaller meshes is used with the large meshes of the conventional geogrid 10, the non-woven fabric has low washout resistance and is easily damaged to have shortened service life.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A primary object of the present invention is to provide a two-in-one reinforced geogrid that has enhanced retaining strength and allows water but not sand and grit to pass therethrough, so as to effectively avoid river silting and mudflows.

To achieve the above and other objects, the two-in-one reinforced geogrid according to the present invention includes a primary fabric having a plurality of large and small meshes, and a non-woven fabric having a plurality of fine pores. The non-woven fabric is fixed onto the primary fabric to together with the primary fabric produce an enhanced retaining strength. The fine pores on the non-woven fabric have sizes allowing water but not sand and grit to pass therethrough, and therefore effectively separate water from sand and grit to avoid river silting and mudflows.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein

FIG. 1 is a front view of a conventional reinforced geogrids;

FIG. 2 is a front view of a two-in-one reinforced geogrid according to the present invention;

FIG. 3 is a sectional view of a primary fabric for the two-in-one reinforced geogrid of the present invention;

FIG. 4 is a front view of a non-woven fabric for the two-in-one reinforced geogrid of the present invention; and

FIG. 5 is a rear view of the two-in-one reinforced geogrid of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Please refer to FIG. 2. A two-in-one reinforced geogrid according to the present invention includes a primary fabric 20 and a non-woven fabric 30.
