1. A method for facilitating a transaction using an electronic container comprising: assigning a transaction identifier to the transaction, wherein the transaction identifier is unique to the transaction; selecting data files for inclusion into the electronic container according to a creation template; creating container index data, wherein the container index data comprises a list of the data files selected for inclusion in the electronic container; forming an electronic container by: associating the data files selected for inclusion in the electronic container with the unique transaction identifier; associating the container index data with the unique transaction identifier; associating a transaction participant with the unique transaction identifier; creating an access rule, wherein the access rule is indicative of a level of interaction of the transaction recipient with the electronic container; associating the access rule with the unique transaction identifier; and providing the electronic container to the transaction participant associated with the unique transaction identifier.

2. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, wherein the data files are selected from the group consisting of an image, a document, a database, a computer generated file, an audio file, a video file, and an electronic data interchange file.

3. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, wherein the transaction is selected from the group consisting of a loan application, a loan underwriting, a closed loan sale, a sale of real property, a sale of goods, a sale of intangible personal property, a legal settlement, a contract for services, and a contract for insurance.

4. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, further comprises creating file index data of a data file, and wherein the file index data is indicative of an organization of the data file, and wherein forming an electronic container further comprises associating the file index data with the unique transaction identifier.

5. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 4, wherein the creation template further comprises the file index data.

The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, wherein the creation template comprises a supplemental data element and, wherein the method further comprises: selecting the supplemental data element for inclusion in the electronic container according to the creation template, wherein the supplemental data element comprises data indicative of the content of a data file from the selected data files; and creating supplemental data, wherein the supplemental data comprises a value associated with the supplemental data element; and wherein forming an electronic container further comprises associating the supplemental data with the unique transaction identifier.

7. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 6, wherein the creation template further comprises the supplemental data.

8. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 6, wherein the supplemental data are selected from the group consisting of a data parameter value, a field name of a data field within the data file, a field formatting characteristic, and a location coordinate of the data field within the data file.

9. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, wherein the access rule is selected from the group consisting of a permission to open the electronic container, a permission to view a data file, a permission to edit a data file, a permission to edit a selected field value, a permission to print a data file, a permission to approve a data file, a permission to extract information from the electronic container, and a permission to disapprove a data file.

10. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, wherein creating an access rule comprises creating an access rule using the creation template.

11. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1 further comprising: applying a recipient template to the electronic container; and ordering the data files in an order determined by the recipient template.

12. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 1, wherein the creation template comprises an order of the data files and wherein associating the data files selected using the creation template with the unique transaction identifier comprises associating the data files selected using the creation template with the unique transaction identifier in the order determined by the creation template.

13. The method of claim 1 further comprising creating a machine readable graphical code representing the container index data, and wherein associating the container index data with the unique transaction identifier comprises associating the machine readable graphical code with the unique transaction identifier.

14. The method of claim 4 further comprising creating a machine readable graphical code representing the file index data and wherein associating the file index data with the unique transaction identifier comprises associating the machine readable graphical code with the unique transaction identifier.

15. The method of claim 6 further comprising creating a machine readable graphical code representing the supplemental data wherein associating the supplemental data with the unique transaction identifier comprises associating the machine readable graphical code with the unique transaction identifier.

16. An electronic container to facilitate a transaction comprising: a creation template, wherein the creation template comprises a list of data files; an electronic container creator adapted for: assigning a transaction identifier to the transaction, wherein the transaction identifier is unique to the transaction; selecting data files for facilitating the transaction according to a creation template; creating container index data, wherein the container index data comprises a list of the data files in the container established by the creation template; associating the data files selected using the creation template with the unique transaction identifier; associating the container index data with the unique transaction identifier; associating a transaction participant with the unique transaction identifier; creating an access rule, wherein the access rule is indicative of a level of interaction of the transaction recipient with the electronic container; associating the access rule with the unique transaction identifier; and providing the electronic container to the transaction participant associated with the unique transaction identifier.

17. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the data files are selected from the group consisting of an image, a document, a database, a computer generated file, an audio file, a video file, and an electronic data interchange file.

18. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the transaction is selected from the group consisting of a loan application, a sale of real property, a sale of goods, a sale of intangible personal property, a legal settlement, a contract for services, and a contract for insurance.

19. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the electronic container creator is further adapted for: creating file index data of a data file, wherein the file index data is indicative of an organization of the data file; and associating the file index data with the unique transaction identifier.

20. The electronic container of claim 19, wherein the creation template further comprises the file index data.

21. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the creation template comprises a supplemental data element and wherein the electronic container creator is further adapted for: selecting the supplemental data element for inclusion in the electronic container according to the creation template, wherein the supplemental data element comprises data indicative of the content of a data file from the list of the data files selected for inclusion in the electronic container; creating supplemental data to be acquired from a data file, wherein the supplemental data comprises a value associated with the supplemental data element elected for inclusion in the electronic container; and associating the supplemental data with the unique transaction identifier.

22. The electronic container of claim 21, wherein the creation template further comprises the supplemental data.

23. The electronic container of claim 21, wherein the supplemental data are selected from the group consisting of a data parameter value, a field name of a data field within the data file, a field formatting characteristic, and a location coordinate of the data field within the data file.

24. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the access rule is selected from the group consisting of a permission to open the electronic container, a permission to view a data file, a permission to edit a data file, a permission to edit a selected field value, a permission to print a data file, a permission to approve a data file, a permission to extract information from the electronic container, and a permission to disapprove a data file.

25. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the creation template further comprises the access rule and wherein the electronic container creator is further adapted for creating the access rule from the creation template.

26. The electronic container of claim 16 further comprising a recipient viewer, wherein the recipient viewer is adapted for: applying a recipient template to the electronic container, and ordering the data files in an order determined by the recipient template.

27. The electronic container of claim 16, wherein the creation template comprises an order of the data files and wherein the electronic container creator is further adapted for ordering the data files in the order determined by the creation template.

28. The electronic container of claim 16 further comprising a machine readable graphical code representing the container index data, and wherein the electronic container creator is further adapted for associating the machine readable graphical code with the unique transaction identifier.

29. The electronic container of claim 4 further comprising creating a machine readable graphical code representing the file index data and wherein associating the file index data with the unique transaction identifier comprises associating the machine readable graphical code with the unique transaction identifier.

30. The electronic container of claim 6 further comprising creating a machine readable graphical code representing the supplemental data wherein associating the supplemental data with the unique transaction identifier comprises associating the machine readable graphical code with the unique transaction identifier.

31. A method for facilitating a transaction using an electronic container comprising: assigning a transaction identifier to the transaction, wherein the transaction identifier is unique to the transaction; selecting data files for inclusion in the electronic container according to a creation template, wherein the creation template comprises a list of data files useful for conducting the transaction; creating container index data, wherein the container index data comprises a list of the data files selected for inclusion in the electronic container; forming an electronic container by: associating the selected data files with the unique transaction identifier; associating the container index data with the unique transaction identifier; creating a completeness rule, wherein application of the completeness rule produces a result indicative of a state of completeness of the electronic container; and associating the completeness rule with the unique transaction identifier.

32. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 31, wherein the completeness rule is applied to the container index data and wherein the result comprises an indication that a data file identified in the creation template is missing from the index data.

33. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 32, wherein application of the completeness rule to the container index further produces a workflow decision selected from the group consisting of sending the container to a transaction participant without the missing data file, delaying sending the incomplete container to a transaction participant, and adding the missing data file to the container index data and to the container.

The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 31 further comprising: selecting supplemental data elements for inclusion in the electronic container according to a creation template, wherein the creation template comprises a list of supplemental data elements useful for conducting the transaction and wherein a supplemental data element comprises data indicative of the content of a data file; creating supplemental data, wherein the supplemental data comprises the supplemental data elements selected for inclusion in the electronic container; and wherein forming an electronic container further comprises associating the supplemental data with the unique transaction identifier.

35. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 33, wherein the completeness rule is applied to the supplemental data and wherein the result comprises an indication that a supplemental data element identified in the list of supplemental data elements is missing from the supplemental data.

36. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 35, wherein application of the completeness rule to the supplemental data further produces a workflow decision selected from the group consisting of sending the container to a transaction participant without the missing supplemental data element, delaying sending the incomplete container to a transaction participant, and adding the missing supplemental data element to the supplemental data and to the container.

37. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 35, wherein the method further comprises: sending the container to a transaction participant without the missing supplemental data element; advising the transaction participant that the supplemental data element is missing; requesting input from the transaction participant; and applying the completeness rule to the supplemental data after the input from the transaction participant is received.

38. The method for facilitating a transaction of claim 36, wherein the supplemental data are selected from the group consisting of a data parameter value, a field name of a data field within the data file, a field formatting characteristic, and a location coordinate of the data field within the data file.

39. An electronic container to facilitate a transaction comprising: a creation template, wherein the creation template comprises a list of data files; an electronic container creator adapted for: assigning a transaction identifier to the transaction, wherein the transaction identifier is unique to the transaction; selecting data files for facilitating the transaction according to a creation template; creating container index data, wherein the container index data comprises a list of the data files in the container established by the creation template; associating the data files selected using the creation template with the unique transaction identifier; associating the container index data with the unique transaction identifier; creating a completeness rule, wherein application of the completeness rule produces a result indicative of a state of completeness of the electronic container; and associating the completeness rule with the unique transaction identifier.

40. The electronic container of claim 39, wherein the completeness rule is applied to the container index data and wherein the result comprises an indication that a data file identified in the creation template is missing from the index data.

41. The electronic container of claim 40, wherein application of the completeness rule to the container index further produces a workflow decision selected from the group consisting of sending the container to a transaction participant without the missing data file, delaying sending the incomplete container to a transaction participant, and adding the missing data file to the container index data and to the container.

42. The electronic container of claim 39, wherein the electronic container creator is further adapted for: selecting supplemental data elements for inclusion in the electronic container according to a creation template, wherein the creation template comprises a list of supplemental data elements useful for conducting the transaction and wherein a supplemental data element comprises data indicative of the content of a data file; creating supplemental data, wherein the supplemental data comprises the supplemental data elements selected for inclusion in the electronic container; and associating the file content data with the unique transaction identifier.

43. The electronic container of claim 42, wherein the completeness rule is applied to the supplemental data and wherein the result comprises an indication that a supplemental data element identified in the list of supplemental data elements is missing from the supplemental data.

44. The electronic container of claim 43, wherein application of the completeness rule to the supplemental data further produces a workflow decision selected from the group consisting of sending the container to a transaction participant without the missing supplemental data element, delaying sending the incomplete container to a transaction participant, and adding the missing supplemental data element to the supplemental data and to the container.

45. The electronic container of claim 43, wherein the method further comprises: sending the container to a transaction participant without the missing supplemental data element; advising the transaction participant that the supplemental data element is missing; requesting input from the transaction participant; and applying the completeness rule to the supplemental data after the input from the transaction participant is received.

46. The electronic container of claim 42, wherein the supplemental data are selected from the group consisting of a data parameter value, a field name of a data field within the data file, a field formatting characteristic, and a location coordinate of the data field within the data file.
