Structure of face member and neck of housing member of golf club headStructure of face member and neck of housing member of golf club head description/claimsThe Patent Description & Claims data below is from USPTO Patent Application 20080039233, Structure of face member and neck of housing member of golf club head. Brief Patent Description - Full Patent Description - Patent Application Claims BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0001]1. Field of the Invention [0002]The present invention relates generally to a golf club, and more particularly to a connection structure of a face and a neck of a golf club head. [0003]2. Description of the Related Art [0004]Typically, a conventional golf club head includes a face and a housing. The face is a cup-like member consisting of a face plate and a circular wall around the face plate. The circular wall has an arched recess thereon to fit a neck of the housing. The face is connected to the housing by welding, brazing or adhesion. Usually, welding provides a well strength in the connection of the face and the housing, but brazing and adhesion provides a weak strength. The golf club head made by brazing or adhesion may have a gap between the recess of the face and the neck of the housing after a long time of swing. This gap may not affect the function of the golf club head, but consumers don't like the golf club head with the gap and they usually return such golf clubs because of the gap. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0005]The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a structure of a face and a neck of a housing of a golf club head, which has a firm structure without any gap therebetween. [0006]According to the objective of the present invention, a golf club head includes a face member with a face plate and an annular wall at a back side of the face plate and a housing member with a neck. The face member has a connection portion and the housing member has a slot under the neck to be engaged with the connection portion, such that the connection portion of the face member lies under the neck of the housing member when the face member is connected to the housing member. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS [0007]FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention; [0008]FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention; and [0009]FIG. 3 is a sectional view along 3-3 line of FIG. 1. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [0010]As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, a golf club head 10 of the preferred embodiment of the present invention is a wood golf club head, and of course, it may be an iron golf club head. The golf club head 10 includes a face member 20 and a housing member 30. The housing member 30 includes a neck 31. The face member 20, which is a cup-like member, includes a face plate 21 and a wall 22 at a backside of the face plate 21. The wall 22 has a portion forming a connection portion 23. The wall 22 of the face member 20 has a protrusion 24 on a distal end thereof. The housing member 30 may be a single piece made by casting. It also may be two or more pieces combined. The neck may be a part of the housing member 30 or may be an independent element and connected to the housing member 30 or may be a part of a piece of the housing member 30 and connected to the other pieces. The housing member 30 is a hollow member with an opening and a recess 32 around the opening for engagement with the protrusion 24 of the face member 20. The housing member 30 further includes a slot 311 under the neck 31 for engagement with the connection portion 23 of the face member 20. As shown in FIG. 3, the connection portion 23 of the face member 20 lies under the neck 31 of the housing member 30 and is engaged with the slot 311. In other words, the face member 20 has the connection portion 23 overlapping the neck 31 of the housing member 30 that the golf club head 10 of the present invention has no gap between the neck 31 and the face member 20. [0011]The description above is a few preferred embodiments of the present invention and the equivalence of the present invention is still in the scope of the claim of the present invention.
