Sport utility lounge chair

USPTO Application #: 20060202523
Title: Sport utility lounge chair
Abstract: I title my invention the “Sport Utility Lounge Chair”. An improved pool lounge chair that allows a person the advantage of being able to lie face down and have a round padded opening in which to put their face. This permits the user to continue such activities as reading, eating, or working from beneath the chair. It also helps to avoid unwanted sunrays from damaging the users face. A tray is provided in my design that can be used to support a laptop computer for example, from beneath the chair. The tray also attaches to the armrests of the chair to provide the same benefits when the user is seated in the up-right position. A removable full-size buoyant pad covers the top of the chair. When removed, it can be used as a floatation device for relaxing in the water. (end of abstract)

[0001] I title my invention the "Sport Utility Lounge Chair". This invention is an improved version of a pool or beach lounge chair. It relates to a construction whereby an opening is provided so that a user can put his or her face into a padded hole in the chair when lying on their stomach in a comfortable prone position. This not only protects the users face from unwanted harmful rays from the sun, but also allows him or her the capability to read a book or magazine, eat lunch, or even work on a laptop computer from beneath the chair. Current designs require the user to hang their head to one side or the other when lying on their stomach. This is not only uncomfortable, but allows unwanted sunrays to affect the users face, which may cause irreparable skin damage. The user is also restricted from doing certain things such as reading or working on a computer when in this position.

[0002] This invention also provides a small tray with four retractable legs that can be used to support things like a laptop computer or a book from beneath the pool lounge chair. This same tray also attaches to holes in the armrests of the pool lounge chair to support such things as a laptop computer or a book when the user is seated in the up-right position.

[0003] A common past time for people who use a pool lounge chair is to relax in a body of water such as a pool, lake, or the ocean. This invention provides a buoyant floatable pad, which covers the full length of the chair where the user sits or reclines. It is removable and can be used as a floatation device to provide the user an alternative means to enjoy the water by lying on the pad and floating in the pool, lake, etc. This pad is not to be considered a safety device, only a floatation device.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

[0004] It is an object of the invention to provide a pool lounge chair which allows the user to lie on his or her stomach in comfort, protect their face from unwanted harmful rays of the sun, and be able if so desired to continue activities such as reading, eating, or working.

[0005] It is an object of the invention to provide a useful attachable tray that can be used when the individual is in the prone or upright position, to support such things as a laptop computer, book, or a meal.

[0006] It is an object of the invention to provide a full-length floatable pad on which the user can sit or recline. This pad can be removed from the chair and used in a body of water as a floatation device to provide an alternate source of recreation and relaxation.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0007] FIG. 1 is a drawing of the pool lounge chair without the floatable pad or the attachable tray, depicting the hole in the chair which the user will place his or her face when lying on their stomach in the prone position.

[0008] FIG. 2 is a drawing of the pool lounge chair with the removable floatable pad attached.

[0009] FIG. 3 is a drawing of the pool lounge chair with the removable floatable pad and the removable tray attached.

[0010] FIG. 4 is a drawing of the pool lounge chair in the prone flat position with the floatable pad on the chair and the attachable tray beneath the hole in the chair to depict how the tray will be positioned to support the users needs when lying on his or her stomach.
