BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to sandals and more particularly to such a sandal with increased structural strength and thus increased useful life.

[0003] 2. Related Art

[0004] A conventional sandal is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. The sandal comprises a base 20 including a forward through hole 21 and two aligned through holes 22 at either side, and a Y-shaped strap including a projecting enlargement 100 at a forward end of its forward shank 10 and two aligned projecting enlargements 110 at either rear end of its fork 11. The enlargements 100 and 110 are adapted to insert into and fasten in the through holes 21 and 22 respectively by gluing or any other method known in the art.

[0005] However, the previous design suffered from a disadvantage. For example, force exerted by the foot mainly concentrates on the fork 11 when a wearer lifts his/her foot. This inevitably will decrease a useful life of the sandal. Thus, the need for improvement still exists.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a sandal with increased structural strength and thus increased useful life.

[0007] The above and other objects of the present invention are realized by providing a sandal comprising a base comprising a forward through hole and two aligned through holes at either side; and a strap comprising a projecting enlargement at a forward end and a fork including two rear bifurcations each having two projecting enlargements at its both ends; wherein the enlargements are fastened in the through holes.

[0008] The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009] FIG. 1 is an exploded view of a conventional sandal;

[0010] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the assembled sandal in FIG. 1;

[0011] FIG. 3 is an exploded view of a preferred embodiment of sandal according to the invention; and

[0012] FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the assembled sandal in FIG. 3.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0013] Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, there is shown a sandal constructed in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention. The sandal comprises a base 20 including a forward through hole 21 and two aligned through holes 22 at either side, and a strap including a projecting enlargement 100 at a forward end of its forward shank 10 and two projecting enlargements 110 at both ends of a bifurcation 12 at either rear portion of its fork 11. The enlargements 100 and 110 are adapted to insert into and fasten in the through holes 21 and 22 respectively.

[0014] Advantageously, force exerted by the foot substantially evenly distributes among the fork 11 and the bifurcations 12 when a wearer lifts his/her foot. This has the benefits of not only increasing structural strength of the sandal but also increasing its useful life.

[0015] While the invention herein disclosed has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.
