CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This Non-provisional patent Application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application No. 60/613,457 entitled "Quick Dissolve Packets" filed on Sep. 27, 2004.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0002] The disclosures made herein relate generally to baby formula. The invention discussed herein is in the general classification of powdered infant formula.

BACKGROUND

[0003] In order to properly care for a baby, a parent or other caregiver has to transport a number of items with him or her when away from home. Baby formula in liquid form is often brought with the parent or caregiver wherever he or she goes. Unfortunately, liquid baby formula must be put in some sort of container, often a baby bottle. If a caregiver spills the baby formula, the caregiver will not have the appropriate amount of baby formula available when feeding time arrives. Spillage of the formula can also be messy. To date, no adequate, non-liquid baby formula has been developed.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0004] Quick Dissolve Packets utilize a combination of cellulose and starch to create a pouch that is filled with a measured amount of powdered baby formula. These pouches can be dissolved by a caregiver in a baby bottle or other container filled with the requisite amount of water. The pouch will dissolve in the water and the powdered baby formula and water can be mixed to provide food for an infant.

[0005] Although the invention described herein is often referred to as baby formula or infant formula, it should be understood that it could be used for a variety of applications in the food industry.

[0006] The principal object of this invention is to provide powdered baby formula that is easily transported and that can be dissolved in water.

[0007] Another object of this invention is to provide a baby formula that is clean and easy to use.

[0008] Yet another object this invention is to provide an affordable baby formula.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0009] FIG. 1 depicts a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of the invention.

[0010] FIG. 2 depicts a cross-sectional view of the preferred embodiment of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0011] The Quick Dissolve Packets of the present invention are comprised of at least some of the following: a cellulose and starch packet and powdered baby formula.

[0012] In the preferred embodiment of the packet 1, shown in FIG. 1, a thin outer shell 2 surrounds powdered baby formula (not pictured). The outer shell 2 is roughly rectangular in shape and measures approximately one cubic inch in volume when filled.

[0013] In FIG. 2, a cross-section of the outer shell 2 reveals the powdered baby formula 3 that is contained within. The powdered formula 3 can be milk-based, soy-based, or contain other types of suitable ingredients.

[0014] The Quick Dissolve Packets are designed to allow a user to easily transport formula in non-liquid form to reduce the likelihood of messy spills. The Quick Dissolve Packets permit a user to simply fill an infant's bottle with the necessary amount of water and insert one packet into the bottle when an infant becomes hungry. The surrounding outer shell dissolves in the water to allow the powdered baby formula and water to mix to create a consumable liquid. To aid in this mixing process, a user can put the lid back onto the baby bottle and shake it.

[0015] Obviously, a user could utilize any container and mixing method to achieve the same results. It should also be obvious that any substance that is safe and dissolvable in water could be used for the outer shell. It is likewise obvious that any shape or size packet could be utilized in this invention.

[0016] It will be recognized by those skilled in the art that changes or modifications may be made to the above-described embodiments without departing from the broad inventive concepts of the invention. It should therefore be understood that this invention is not limited to the particular embodiments described herein, but is intended to include all changes and modifications that are within the scope and spirit of the invention as set forth in the claims.
