Pump seat for an inflatable product

USPTO Application #: 20070196220
Title: Pump seat for an inflatable product
Abstract: A pump seat for an inflatable product includes a hollow body with an open end. The body has a coupling portion formed at a side opposed to the open end. An opening is defined in the center of the coupling portion. A tongue is movably connected on the coupling portion for closing the opening. A finger is formed on the tongue and extends towards the interior of the hollow body. A recess is defined in the body beside the opening. A plug is selectively positioned in the opening or the recess. When an inflating process applied to the inflatable product is finished, the plug is inserted into the opening to provide a further airproof effect. (end of abstract)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] The present invention relates to a pump seat for an inflatable product, and more particularly to a pump seat which can effectively prevent air leakage.

[0003] 2. Description of Related Art

[0004] Large inflatable products made of rubber material, such as airbed or inflatable swimming pool etc., should be inflated and deflated with an electrical pump.

[0005] The inflatable products each have a seat for mounting the electrical pump. A valve is provided in the seat for connecting with a nozzle of the electrical pump. The valve includes a tongue formed therein as an airproof element. During inflating process, the tongue is pushed downwards to open the valve. When the inflating process is finished, the tongue can be returned back to close the valve to prevent air leakage.

[0006] However, the tongue may incompletely close the valve, and air in the inflatable product will leak out during use period.

[0007] Therefore, the invention provides a seat for an electrical pump to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0008] The main objective of the present invention is to provide a seat for an electrical pump which can completely prevent air leakage in an inflatable product.

[0009] Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0011] FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the pump seat in FIG. 1;

[0012] FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a plug of the pump seat in FIG. 1;

[0013] FIG. 4 is another exploded perspective view of the pump seat in FIG. 1;

[0014] FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the pump seat in FIG. 1 in another status;

[0015] FIG. 6 is a cross sectional view of the pump seat in FIG. 5;

[0016] FIG. 7 is an operational side plan view in partial cross section of the pump seat in FIG. 5 during an inflating process;

[0017] FIG. 8 is a cross sectional view of the pump seat in FIG. 1 when the inflating process is finished;

[0018] FIG. 9 is an operational side plan view in partial cross section of the pump seat in FIG. 5 during a deflating process; and

[0019] FIG. 10 is an operational side plan view in partial cross section of the pump seat in FIG. 1 showing that an air pump is received in the seat.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0020] With reference to FIGS. 1-3, a pump seat for an inflatable product in accordance with the present invention includes a hollow body (10) with an open end. A coupling portion (11) is formed on a side of the hollow body (10) opposed to the open end. An opening (12) is defined in the center of the coupling portion (11). A tongue (13) is movably connected on the coupling portion (1) for closing the opening (12). A finger (14) is formed on the tongue (13) and extends towards the interior of the hollow body (10). A recess (15) is defined beside the opening (12).
