Pivoting golf tee

USPTO Application #: 20070021240
Title: Pivoting golf tee
Abstract: A reusable golf tee that allows the golf tee to pivot away from the direction of flight of the golf ball when the golf ball is struck. The pivoting action of the tee reduces friction between the golf ball and the tee at the time of impact. The surface of the tee is smooth to further reduce friction. The tee is comprised of a circular perch for holding a golf ball from which a single shaft extends. This shaft projects downward from the circular perch at an angle of approximately 45 degrees for a distance that is varied to accommodate different golf clubs. The shaft then again projects downward approximately 45 degrees to a tapered tip that will facilitate insertion of the pivoting tee into the ground. (end of abstract)

[0001] The pivoting golf tee is a device intended to suspend a golf ball above the ground. The pivoting golf tee is constructed of round, tubular type material. One end of the pivoting golf tee is fashioned into a circle that is designed to hold a golf ball. Extending from the circle is a shaft that is bent perpendicular to the plane of the circle to an angle of approximately 45 degrees. At a distance of 1'' to 2'' from the initial bend, the shaft is again bent perpendicular to the plane of the circle, in the same direction as the initial bend, to an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The distance between the 45 degree angle bends will vary to accommodate a variety of golf clubs

[0002] Figure A is a side view of my design for a golf tee. Figure B is a 3/4 view of my design for a golf tee. Figure C depicts my design for a golf tee with a golf ball in place. Figure D is a top view of my design for a golf tee. Figure E1 represents a golf club. Figure E2 indicates the direction of motion of the golf club toward impact with the golf ball. Figure E3 depicts the direction of travel of the golf ball after impact. Figure E4 depicts the pivoting motion of the golf tee after impact.
