CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0001] This application claims priority from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 60/596,609, filed Oct. 5, 2005, the entirety of which is incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD OF INVENTION

[0002] The present invention relates to the field of clothing apparel. In particular, to pants with detachable frontal patch.

BACKGROUND

[0003] Pants (e.g. trousers, slacks, jeans or shorts) are a common form of outer garment worn over the lower body by men, women and children. Various styles of pants are available many of which include a fly on the front of the pants that begins below a fastener at the waistband and descends toward the crotch area of the pants. The fly facilitates the putting on and removal of the pants as well as providing access to the wearer's under-garments and pubic area while the pants are worn.

[0004] The typical fly which usually incorporates a zipper or buttons as a fastening means provides limited access to the under-garments and pubic area when the waistband of the pants remains fastened. The typical fly comprises two overlapping flaps that remain overlapping when the fastening means is unfastened. Access to the under-garments and pubic area require that the flaps be spread apart; typically a two-handed operation. Unfastening the waistband improves access to the under-garments and pubic area but compromises the wearing of the pants as the pants tend to fall if the wearer moves about while the waistband is unfastened. Unfastening of the waistband usually also necessitates the unfastening of any belt worn over the pants.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0005] Pants with a detachable frontal patch are described that facilitate access (including visibility) to under-garments and the pubic area of the wearer of the pants while allowing the waistband of the pant to remain fastened permitting the wearer to move about without fear of the pants falling down. When the detachable frontal patch is removed further manipulation of the pants is not required in order to maintain access to the under-garments and pubic area of the wearer of the pants.

[0006] In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided pants comprising: an aperture in the front of the pant arranged to substantially correspond to the pubic area of a wearer of the pants; a frontal patch; and a fastening mechanism for removable attachment of the frontal patch to the pant in substantial coverage of the aperture; wherein under-garments and the pubic area of a wearer of the pants are accessible when the frontal patch is removed.

[0007] In accordance with a another aspect of the present invention, there is provided pants comprising: an aperture in the front of the pant arranged to substantially correspond to the pubic area of a wearer of the pants; a plurality of frontal patches; and a fastening mechanism for removable attachment of any one of the frontal patches to the pant in substantial coverage of the aperture; wherein under-garments and the pubic area of a wearer of the pants are accessible when none of the frontal patches is attached.

[0008] Other aspects and features of the present invention will become apparent to those ordinarily skilled in the art or science to which it pertains upon review of the following description of specific embodiments of the invention in conjunction with the accompanying figures.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

[0009] The present invention will be described in conjunction with drawings in which:

[0010] FIG. 1 is a front view of an exemplary embodiment of pants with a detachable frontal patch.

[0011] FIG. 2 is a partial front view of an exemplary embodiment of pants with a detachable frontal patch showing the frontal patch in an attached position.

[0012] FIG. 3 is a partial front view of an exemplary embodiment of pants with a detachable frontal patch showing the frontal patch in a detached position.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0013] FIG. 1 is a front view of an exemplary embodiment of a pair of pants 10 (herein after referred to as pants) with a detachable frontal patch 20. The pants 10 can be of a type suitable for wear by men, women and children. The pants 10 can be made of any well known fabric such as, for example, cotton, wool, silk, polyester, other synthetic materials, and combinations thereof. The pants 10 can optionally comprise a fly 40 situated on the front on the pants 10 preferably situated below the waistband and descending toward the crotch area of the pants 10. The pants 10 further comprise a frontal patch 20 attachable to the crotch area of the pants 10 preferably below the fly 40.

[0014] FIG. 3 is a partial front view of an exemplary embodiment of pants 10 with a detachable frontal patch 20 showing the frontal patch in a detached position. The frontal patch 20 is detachable from the pants 10 to expose an aperture 30 (i.e. an opening) in the pants 10. The aperture 30 is arranged to provide access to the under-garment and the pubic area of the wearer of the pants 10 without the need to manipulate the pants 10 to provide access. Preferably, with the frontal patch 20 detached, the under-garments of the wearer are visible through the aperture. The aperture 30 can be in the shape of a triangle as illustrated in FIG. 2 or alternatively the aperture 30 can be any other shape that permits access to the wearer's under-garments and pubic area.

[0015] FIG. 2 is a partial front view of an exemplary embodiment of pants 10 with a detachable frontal patch 20 showing the frontal patch 20 in an attached position. The frontal patch 20 can be any shape that covers the aperture 30 with the frontal patch 20 in the attached position. The frontal patch 20 can be made of the same material as the pants 10. Alternatively, the frontal patch 20 can be made of any other well known fabric such as, for example, cotton, wool, silk, polyester, other synthetic materials, and combinations thereof. The frontal patch 20 can have the same color and finish as the pants 10 or alternatively the frontal patch 20 can be of a different color and/or style than the pants 10 in order to provide visual differentiation and interest. In an alternative embodiment a plurality of frontal patches 20 can used interchangeably with the pants 10. Each of the plurality of frontal patches 20 can preferably be different in appearance and/or material to provide the pants 10 with a different style (i.e. appearance) with each of the interchangeable frontal patches 20 attached.

[0016] The pants 10 further comprise a fastening mechanism for attaching the frontal patch 20 over the aperture 30. The fastening mechanism can comprise any well known means such as, for example, buttons, snaps, hooks and loop fasteners, zippers and other similar fastening mechanisms.

[0017] The waistband and fly 40 of the pant can remain fastened with the frontal patch 20 removed allowing the wearer of the pants 10 to move about without fear of the pants 10 falling down. The pants 10 can be worn with the frontal patch 20 attached or detached.

[0018] It will be apparent to one skilled in the art that numerous modifications and departures from the specific embodiments described herein may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
