BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention relates generally to ink cartridges. In particular, the present invention is directed towards ink cartridges which may be used in combination with ink jet printers.

[0004] 2. Description of Related Art

[0005] Ink cartridges which are configured to be used in combination with ink jet printers are known in the art.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] A need has arisen for ink cartridges which overcome the shortcomings of known ink cartridges.

[0007] According to an embodiment of the present invention, an ink cartridge comprises an ink chamber comprising at least one wall, and the at least one wall comprises a film. The ink cartridge also comprises at least one rib disposed within the ink chamber, and the at least one rib contacts the film of the at least one wall. Moreover, at least a portion of at least one rib of the at least one rib is positioned closer to a center of the ink chamber than to an edge of the ink chamber.

[0008] According to another embodiment of the present invention, an ink cartridge comprises an ink chamber comprising a first wall, and at least one second wall. Specifically, at least a portion of the first wall is substantially perpendicular to the at least one second wall, an area of the at least one second wall is greater than an area of the first wall, and the at least one second wall comprises a film. The ink cartridge also comprises an air intake portion positioned at the first wall.
