Harness resistance for sport, rehabilitation and functional training

USPTO Application #: 20070066457
Title: Harness resistance for sport, rehabilitation and functional training
Abstract: The harness resistance for sport, rehabilitation and functional training is a special harness designed to safely secure a resistance to a ball or onto the body. The harness resistance devise can be used to fit any ball or part of the body because it is adjustable. The harness resistance allows the user to then add resistance to the ball but also to his body depending on his needs or his training regiment. The harness resistance allows a great range of motion and thanks to it the resistance can be use in different directions. The user can then work every muscles group of his body. The harness resistance can be use with any kind of resistance such as weights, springs, resistance band, etc. The harness resistance can also be used indoor, outdoor, on water and under water; anywhere the user can attached it to a resistance he can use it. The harness resistance can also be use as a ball holder; he can also be used as a moving target for different type of training. Thanks to its wide range of motion, the user can be in motion while lifting weights, allowing him to learn coordination with the ball. The harness resistance allows functional training at another level and probably at its best. (end of abstract)

[0001] The harness resistance attachment is made out of two nylon bands sewn together around a 11/4'' "D" ring at the center (triangle ring or nylon shaped as a hook can also be used). The first nylon band is twice the length of the second and it first looped around the "D" ring to half its length and then sewn to itself to secure the "D" ring. There are two angles between the extremity of the first nylon band after it sewn to the "D" ring, one of 120 degrees and the other of 240. The second band is sewn to center of the "Slider" at its first extremity, then its second extremity is looped to a "Triangle" ring before it goes back in and out of the "Slider" to finally split the 240 degrees angle in half coming from under, and loops around the "D" ring, and is sewn to the other band and itself. The harness resistance attachment will look like a big "Y" with the "D" ring in the center and three 120 degrees angles in between the bands. Another two "Y" shaped polypropylene pieces, (nylon or leather could also be used) wider but shorter in length, will cover the bottom and the top of the "D" ring and then sewn to each other to reinforce the structure of the harness resistance attachment. Considering that the top has a 1'' gap to let the "D" ring out so it can be hooked to the resistance being used. The harness resistance attachment has on one of its ends a triangular ring sewn to it, and a slider that will change the length of the band so it can fit different size balls. The two other ends on the triangular ring will secure the harness resistance attachment to the ball with the Velcro straps sewn on the ends of the bands. It's the slider and the Velcro straps that make the harness resistance attachment adjustable and stable around the ball. The Velcro also helps hold it onto the body. In place of the Velcro, you can also use snaps and buttons to attach it to the ball or the body.

[0002] When The harness resistance attachment is attached to a ball it will look like a fancy ball holder, however, a closer look to it will tell that it is made out of nylon bands strong enough to hold hundreds of pounds hooked to its heavy duty "D" ring. The slider and the velcros will, also, show that The harness resistance attachment is adjustable to almost any kind of ball, but also that it can be adjust enough so the user can slide his hand or his foot between the nylon bands, right under the "D" ring, providing them the ability to fully hold the ball with the palm of their hand or to do kicking exercises with their foot.

[0003] The harness resistance attachment is a training device that goes over a ball giving the user the ability to add resistance to it. The harness resistance attachment is adaptable to different kinds of balls and to different types of resistance depending on the users training regiment and it can also be worn on the body. The athlete can use their hands, their arms, their legs, and their feet to hold on to the ball while they are training. And they can also use their body instead of the ball to exercise because the harness resistance can also be worn on the body and be attached to any resistance device.

[0004] The harness resistance attachment will fit most balls used in athletic activities including but not limited to a basketball, soccer ball, football, rugby ball, handball, water polo ball, volleyball, medicine ball, utility ball, etc.

[0005] The harness resistance can be worn onto the body. More specifically on their feet, ankles, calves, thighs, waist, torsos, back, arms, forearms, etc.

[0006] The harness resistance attachment can be used in any king of training regiment including basic strength gain, power, stability training, fat lost, endurance training, plyometric training, isometric training, agility and speed training, running, kicking and throwing, vertical and horizontal leap training, and rehabilitation training. Also, some athletes can use it to teach and strengthen the basic fundamentals of their specific sport. The harness resistance attachment can be used by anybody from the "Average Joe" to the professional athlete depending on their needs and goals.

[0007] The harness resistance attachment can be used in door, out door, on the water and under water. You can use it in the weight room, on a field, on the court, on hills, on the sand, in your apartment, hotel room, in and under the water, etc. Anywhere the athlete can attach it to resistance they can take it with them.

[0008] The harness resistance attachment can be attached to resistance such as resistance band, spring, a dumbbell, weight disk, and cable from a weights pulling machine such home gym machine or weight room.

[0009] The harness resistance attachment can be use to work every muscles group.
