USPTO Application #: 20060105861
Title: Golf tee composed of two parts
Abstract: A golf tee includes a lower part and a top part which is connected to the lower part by a flexible wire which extends through the top part and fixed to the lower part. Two magnetic members are respectively received in the top part and the lower part so as to easily connected the two parts. The top part can be separated from the lower part in any direction when the top part is hit by the golf club while the two parts are still connected by the flexible wire. (end of abstract)

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a golf tee composed of two parts which are connected by a flexible wire and attracted to each other by magnetic members.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] A conventional golf tee is made by wood or plastic material in one piece. The golf tee has a sharp end for inserting the tee into the soil and the other end includes a recess in which the golf ball is supported. However, not every player strikes the golf ball without touching the golf tee, actually, most of the players hit the tees rather than the balls so that the tees fly with the balls. The tees are small so that they might not be found. Furthermore, the tees could be broken due the powerful strike by the golf clubs. FIG. 6 discloses an improved golf tee "a" which includes a lower part "c" with a top hole "c1" and a top part "b" which has a passage "b2". The top part "b" is mounted to a protrusion on a top of the lower part "c" and a flexible bar "e" extends through the passage "b2" from a top of the passage "b2" and is inserted in the top hole "c1". A spring "d" is mounted to the bar "e" and biased between a head "e1" of the bar "e" and the inside of the passage "b2". When the golf club (not shown) hits the top part "b", the top part "b" is lifted from the lower part "c" and the spring "d" is compressed. In the meanwhile, the bar "e" is still connected to the lower part "c" so that the tee "a" is not broken.

[0003] The present invention intends to provide a golf tee which is composed of two parts attracted by magnetic members and a flexible wire is connected between the two parts.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention relates to golf tee which comprises a lower part having a shank and a head which includes a recess defined in a top thereof and a first magnetic member is received in the recess. A top part has a passage defined longitudinally therethrough and a second magnetic member is connected to a bottom of the top part. The top part is mounted on the lower part and the first and second magnetic members are attracted to each other. A flexible wire extends through the passage, the second magnetic member and the first magnetic member and is fixed to the lower part.

[0005] The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0006] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the golf tee of the present invention;

[0007] FIG. 2 is an exploded view to show the golf tee of the present invention;

[0008] FIG. 3 is a cross sectional view of the golf tee of the present invention;

[0009] FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view to show the top part is separated from the lower part of the golf tee of the present invention;

[0010] FIG. 5 shows when the golf ball is hit and the top part is separated from the lower part of the golf tee of the present invention, and

[0011] FIG. 6 is an exploded view to show a conventional golf tee.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0012] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, the golf tee 1 of the present invention comprises a lower part 2 having a shank 21 and a head 22 which is connected to a first end of the shank 21 and a sharp tip is defined in a second end of the shank 21. The head 22 includes a recess 24 defined in a top thereof and a chamber 241 is defined in an inside of the recess 24. A through hole 23 is defined through a wall of the head 22 and communicates with the recess 24 such that a rope is tied to the through hole 23. A first magnetic member 41 is received in the chamber 241 in the recess 24.

[0013] A top part 3 has a passage 32 defined longitudinally therethrough and a cone-shaped ramp 31 is defined in a top of the top part 3 so as to receive a golf ball. The passage 32 includes a first portion 33 communicating to the cone-shaped ramp 31 in the top of the top part 3, a path 34, a receiving space 35 and a concavity 36 which opens to a bottom of the top part 3. The concavity 36 includes a divert inner periphery 361 for convenience of receiving of the top of the first magnetic member 41. A second magnetic member 42 is received in the receiving space 35 and a top of the first magnetic member 41 is received in the concavity 36. In this embodiment, the first magnetic member 41 can be a cylindrical magnetic member and the second magnetic member 42 can be a metallic washer. When the top part 3 is mounted on the lower part 2, the first and second magnetic members 41, 42 are attracted to each other. This is convenient for the users to assemble the two parts 2 and 3.

[0014] A flexible wire 5 extends through the passage 32, a hole 44 in the second magnetic member 42 and a hole 43 in the first magnetic member 41. The first portion 33 includes an inner diameter which is larger than an inner diameter of the path 34, and the flexible wire 5 includes a first tie which is stocked by an inside of the first portion 33. The flexible wire 5 includes a second tie which is formed after the flexible wire 5 extends through the hole 43 of the first magnetic member 41. The second tie is then securely received in the chamber 241 by adhesive 9.

[0015] Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, if the golf club (not shown) hits the top part 3, the top part 3 can be separated from the lower part 2 in any direction while the top part 3 and the lower part 2 are connected with each other by the flexible wire 5. The users can conveniently re-mount the top part 3 onto the lower part 2 without aiming by the attraction of the first and second magnetic members 41, 42. And if the rope tied to the through hole 23 is fixed, the fixing can ensure the golf tee 1 not being missed.

[0016] While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
