Flat display holder armRelated Patent Categories: Supports, Brackets, Adjustable, Single Joint, Horizontal PivotFlat display holder arm description/claimsThe Patent Description & Claims data below is from USPTO Patent Application 20060231710, Flat display holder arm. Brief Patent Description - Full Patent Description - Patent Application Claims BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0001] (a) Technical Field of the Invention [0002] The present invention is related to a flat display holder arm, and more particularly, to one that contains a tension spring and a steel cord to promote economic and practical benefits. [0003] (b) Description of the Prior Art [0004] Referring to FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawings, a construction of flat display holder of the prior art is essentially comprised of a base (11), an arm (12), an extension support (13), and a support plate (14). The lower end of the arm (12) is connected to the base (11) and the extension support (13) is pivoted to the top of the arm (12). A worm gear (111) is locked inside the base (11) and a mobile seat (112) is pivoted to the worm gear (111). Two axial bolts (113) are respectively protruding from both sides of the mobile seat (112) in symmetry. An axial pin (121) is inserted to the arm (12) close to the extension support (13). An air cylinder (15) is disposed between the axial bolt (113) at the bottom and the axial pin (121) at the top to rotate the worm gear (111) to draw the mobile seat (112) for movement by adjusting the length of an retractable shat (151) of the air cylinder (15). However, the air cylinder contributes to higher production cost of the holder arm and is comparatively heavy. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0005] The primary purpose of the present invention is to provide an improved construction of a flat display holder arm to make it lighter and lower its production cost to meet economic and practical purposes. To achieve the purpose, a tension spring and a steel cord are both used to replace the air cylinder of the prior art. The arm includes two levers and the tension spring is disposed in a space defined by both levers. One end of the tension spring is hooked to an axial pin crossing both levers of the arm while the other end of the tension spring is connected to one end of the steel cord to go around another axial pin fixed to a base to have the other end of the steel cord hooked to an axial pin crossing a mobile seat. A bolt is provided to the base. The position of the mobile seat is adjusted by rotating the bolt to set the strength of the tension spring by adjusting the length of the tension spring with the steel cord. Accordingly, the support strength of the arm is set up by the tension spring. The foregoing object and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts. [0006] Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS [0007] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an assembly of the prior art. [0008] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of an assembly of the present invention. [0009] FIG. 3 is a sectional view of the present invention. [0010] FIG. 4 is a first schematic view showing adjustment of the present invention. [0011] FIG. 5 is a second schematic view showing adjustment of the present invention. [0012] FIG. 6 is a third schematic view showing adjustment of the present invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS [0013] The following descriptions are of exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims. [0014] Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, a flat display holder arm of the present invention is comprised of an arm (20) including a right lever (22) and a left lever (23) and both levers (22, 23) are hollowed. Both levers (22, 23) are respectively locked to two bolts (211) on both sides of the base (21) by means of a compression ring (212) and a nut (213). A bolt (215) is mounted to the base (121) by means of a nut (214) and a mobile set (24) provided with an axial pin (241) is pivoted to the bolt (215). A tension spring (25) is mounted within a space defined by both levers (22, 23) of the arm (20). One end of the tension spring (25) is hooked to an axial pin (26) crossing both levers (22, 23). The other end of the tension spring (25) is connected to a steel cord (27), which goes around an axial pin (216) fixed to the base (21) to be hooked to an axial pin (241) provided to the mobile seat (24). As illustrated in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6, the position of the mobile seat (24) is set by rotating the bolt (215). Meanwhile, the steel cord (27) adjusts the length, i.e., the strength of the tension spring (25). Accordingly, the support force of the arm (20) is set by adjusting the strength of the tension spring (25). Replacement of the air cylinder found in the prior art with the tension spring (25) and the steel cord (27) of the present invention allows a lighter arm and lower production costs to achieve economic and practical benefits. [0015] It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above. [0016] While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
