1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to an exercise chair and, more particularly, to an exercise chair, which is additionally provided with a locking means for adjust the inclination angle of a seat back, thus enabling a user to conduct repeated abdominal exercise while inclining the seat back to a horizontal angle.

2. Description of the Related Art

Currently, many people are interested in improving their health, and most people improve their health by setting aside the time to exercise in places where various types of sports equipment are provided, such as health clubs.

However, a great number of modern people are pressed by their busy daily lives in order to make their living being, so that it is hard for them to set aside the time to exercise, therefore it is very hard to travel to health clubs to exercise.

Furthermore, in the case of a male who works in an office or in the case of a female who has given birth to a baby, obesity of his or her abdomen or the lower part of his or her body is a cause for concern. However, no sports equipment that can mitigate obesity by simultaneously exercising the abdomen and the lower part of the body has been provided, and thus many people are concerned about obesity of their abdomens and the lower parts of their bodies.

Furthermore, conventionally, no chair that helps workers or students, who spend a lot of time sitting on chairs, to exercise or conduct stretching is provided, so that a problem occurs in that the degree of obesity of the workers or the students increases.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the above problems occurring in the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide an exercise chair, which enables a user to conduct repeated abdomen exercise while leaning the back of the chair to a horizontal angle.

In order to accomplish the above object, the present invention provides an exercise chair, including a body frame; a seat placed on the body frame; a rear frame formed behind the body frame; shaft gears shafted inside the rear frame; a seat back configured such that a plurality of acupressure means is mounted on one surface of the seat back; connection bars inserted into one end of the seat back and coupled with the circumferential surface of the shaft gear; a plurality of elastic members coupled to the respective sides of the shaft gears to elastically bias the seat back to a vertical orientation; and a locking means formed between the rear frame and one of the shaft gears and configured to lock the corresponding shaft gear in response to the operation of a locking lever.

In the present invention, a pair of first and second ratchets, each of which is formed in a streamlined shape to surround one side of the corresponding shaft gear, is coupled to a plate, on which the shaft gear is mounted, around hinge shafts so as to be able to rotate within a predetermined angle range, a plurality of locking gears, which are configured to be engaged with the shaft gear, is formed to protrude from the respective sides of the first and second ratchets, a first engaging part and a second engaging part are formed to protrude from the actuation ends of the first and second ratchets and to be opposite each other, a spring is connected between the ends of the first and second engaging parts, and an actuation cam is located in a space between the first and second engaging parts to be coupled with an end of a shaft of the locking lever, so that a locking or unlocking operation is performed in such a way that the actuation cam causes the first and second engaging parts to be pushed according to the rotation of the actuation cam, and thus the first and second ratchets are simultaneously actuated.

The actuation cam may include a first cam protrusion for pushing the first engaging part and a second cam protrusion for pushing the second engaging part, the first and second cam protrusions being formed opposite each other, and the first and second engaging parts may have engaging depressions on the respective sides thereof to be engaged with the first and second cam protrusions when the actuation cam rotates in a direction unlocking the ratchets.

The acupressure means may be configured such that a plurality of acupressure members, made of any of a gemstone material, a magnetic material, a wood material and a metal material, is attached to one surface of the seat back, and covers are put on respective acupressure members so as to surround the acupressure members.

Furthermore, the acupressure means may be configured such that roller housings are formed in one surface of the seat back, acupressure rollers are shafted to the respective roller housings, and a plurality of protrusions, made of gemstones or magnets, is formed to protrude from the circumferential surface of each acupressure roller.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a prior art exercise chair;

FIG. 2 is a side view showing the operation of the prior art exercise chair;
