Adjustable apron with a center cut and leg strapsUSPTO Application #: 20060021106Title: Adjustable apron with a center cut and leg straps Abstract: An apron design for adjustability to provide means of increasing the protection and coverage of a user, while increasing the freedom of movement. The upper portion covers the upper body and is secured by a neck strap and the fastener. The right waist tie and the left waist tie may be tighten at the waist by the user. The lower portion of the apron is longer and wider providing means for the center cut to have proper placement. The lower portion becoming two sections of adjustable material, allows straps to be attached to each side of the center cut. The left strap and right strap are placed approximately 9½ inches from the bottom of the apron on one side of the center cut. A fastener placed on the opposite side of the center cut allowing the strap and the lower portion of the apron to be wrapped around the legs of the user. The apron wrapping around the legs gives stability and the needed protection, coverage and freedom of movement to the user. Thus a considerable more versatile apron is provided—that fits a wider range of uses, stays in place while standing, sitting or moving about giving more choices to a user while working. Brief Patent Description - Full Patent Description - Patent Application Claims BACKGROUND [0001] This invention relates to Aprons. Specifically to aprons having the means that allow the users to adjust the amount of protection and coverage the apron provides. [0002] Aprons can deny their users much needed protection and coverage when it fails to meet and cover all areas of the body, to suit the existing conditions, and the matter of providing the user with adequate freedom of movement. These two aspects of the apron don't always work together. [0003] The aprons of today are not adequately adjustable or suitable to meet the demand of providing protection and coverage for the increasing active lifestyle of the user, the more movement required by the user, the less protection and coverage the apron provides. [0004] Stability of the apron to protect and cover the body to fit a wider range of uses has long been sought by manufactures. Most Aprons provide comfort and coverage while standing, but in a narrow range while sitting and with any leg movement. The Apron falls to one side or to the middle through the legs leaving the legs unprotected. [0005] The short Apron made to cover the top portion of the body gives little or no coverage below the waist. The long apron gives Coverage to the upper and lower portion of the body in a narrow range of uses, however the freedom of movement to the user can be limited. The Apron consists of one piece of non-adjustable material. [0006] Therefore, the user has very little control over the amount of coverage the lower portion of the Apron provides when there is movement of the legs. In order to have means of effectively adjusting the suitability of the Apron to fit a wider Range of uses, it must be designed to prevent the possible movement of the lower portion of the apron that would leave the user exposed with out protection. This is important when the user is in any way moving that may dislodge the covered portion of the body. [0007] The method used to optimize the suitability of the apron is to make a center cut in the lower portion of the apron, making two sections of adjustable material, placing straps on both portions on the inside of the center cut allowing the apron to be wrap around the leg and fasten to the outer side of the apron. [0008] The design with the cut in the center of the lower portion, making two pieces of adjustable material for the lower portion, that allows the coverage that is required to protect the user in a wide range of tasks. The center cut is what makes the adjustability of the apron allowing straps to be placed on each side of the cut 91/2 inches from the bottom and allowing the lower portion to be wrapped around each leg. The apron wrapping around the legs fixes the problem of suitability and gives the needed Protection and coverage the user requires for a wider ranger of uses. [0009] Coverage with this much stability has not been available in the apron that gives the user this much comfort and freedom of movement. [0010] The method used to optimize the freedom of movement to the user as shown in FIG. 1; the center cut, the apron needs to be wider at the bottom to make this possible. The straps fasten around the legs from the center. [0011] This protects the user in a wider ranger of uses it also gives the user the ability to move around freely, when they must protect and keep their clothing clean, dry and still do activities required. [0012] In conclusion, insofar as I am aware, no Apron previously developed has provides this amount of adjustability to a user, without movement of the apron, that gives the user freedom to move while providing the most coverage possible. SUMMARY [0013] The invention, the adjustable apron has a cut in the center of the lower portion making it two pieces of adjustable material, from where the cut is made 131/2 inches from the bottom of the apron. This allows straps to be added to the inside of each piece of the cut in the apron 91/2 inches from the bottom of the apron. A snap added to the outside of each portion 10 inches from the bottom secures the strap. [0014] This allows the user to fasten the apron around the legs. The apron is wider at the bottom and flairs out on each side. The added width of the apron made the center cut possible. The new design of the apron allows more protection with much more freedom of movement to a wider range of users, with more adjustable coverage. [0015] The size of the improved apron dictates where the center cut and straps are placed. The apron is made in all sizes from babies to adults. The cut is measure 3'' from the bottom of the pocket to the bottom of the apron, where the leg straps are to be placed. [0016] The adjustable apron made with waterproof material or non-waterproof material, the material used will determine the best use for the apron. The fasteners may be snaps, Velcro, ties, buttons or any other material that is used to secure or fasten together the apron with the leg straps around the legs. [0017] Accordingly several advantages of the invention are to provide an improved apron, to provide means of increasing the protection and coverage of the user, while in creasing the freedom movement during use providing a more user-friendly and a time saving apron, still further advantages will become apparent from a study of the following description and accompanying drawings. [0018] The invention, the adjustable apron now has two designs, the first as explained in the Prior pages of this P.A. The second design consists of the lower portion cut the same as the lower portion of the first design of the chap. The top part of the apron cuts down to the waist, this now becomes the top of the apron just above the waist. [0019] Leaving a half apron with the cut in the center and the leg straps that makes it possible to fasten the apron around the legs, as stated in the first part of this PA. [0020] The advantages of the invention of the adjustable half apron are to provide an improved apron, to provide means of increasing the freedom of movement during use, for the user that does not want the full apron. Providing a more user-friendly and a time saving apron. [0021] Still further advantages will become apparent from a study of the following description and accompanying drawings.
