1. Technical Field

The disclosure relates to heat dissipation, and particularly to a fan duct for guiding airflow.

2. Description of Related Art

With the continuing development of electronic technology, components of electronic devices, such as memory cards, generate a great deal of heat. The heat needs to be dissipated immediately to ensure the continued proper function of the electronic devices. Often, a cooling fan is provided to generate airflow, and a fan duct is provided to guide the airflow. However, a conventional fan duct cannot adjust the airflow for different electronic components.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of examples and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a fan duct includes a first duct 10, a second duct 20, a baffle 30, and a fastener 40. In this embodiment, the fastener 40 is a screw.

The first duct 10 includes a first main plate 12, a first side plate 14 extending from a first side of the first main plate 12, and a divider 16 extending from a second side of the first main plate 12. The first side plate 14 and the divider 16 are substantially parallel to each other. Two adjusting portions 122 are formed on an outer surface of the first main plate 12 and are spaced from each other. Each adjusting portion 122 is substantially a gear rack and includes a number of parallel substantially V-shaped slots 123. A pivot hole 124 is defined in the first main plate 12 adjacent to one end of the divider 16. A pivot portion 162 extends from the end of the divider 16 opposite to the pivot hole 124. An arc-shaped slot 126 is defined in the first main plate 12 about the pivot hole 124.

The second duct 20 is substantially L-shaped and includes a second main plate 22 and a second side plate 24 extending from a first side of the second main plate 22. Two hooks 222 extend from a second side of the second main plate 22 opposite to the second side plate 24. A block 223 is formed at a distal end of each hook 222.

The baffle 30 is substantially a rectangle piece and includes a pivot side and an adjusting side. Two posts 32 extend from two opposite ends of the pivot side of the baffle 30. A positioning hole 34 is defined in the adjusting side of the baffle 30.

Referring to FIG. 3, in assembly, the second main plate 22 of the second duct 20 is coupled to the first main plate 12 of the first duct 10, with the hooks 222 of the second duct 20 engaging with the corresponding adjusting portions 122 of the first duct 10. The block 223 of each hook 222 engages in one of the slots 123 of a corresponding adjusting portion 122. An airflow way, witch has an air inlet and an air outlet opposite to the air inlet, is bound by the first and second main plates 12 and 22, and the first and second side plates 14 and 24. The divider 16 is arranged along a direction from the air inlet to the air outlet, to divide the airflow way into first and second airflow ways. The posts 32 of the baffle 30 are pivotably mounted in the pivot hole 124 of the first main plate 12 and the pivot portion 162 of the divider 16, for pivotably connecting the baffle 30 to the one end of the divider 16. The fastener 40 extends through the slot 126 of the first main plate 12 to engage in the positioning hole 34 of the baffle 30.

Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, in use, the first and second airflow ways are used for different electronic elements, such as central processing units and memories. The baffle 30 may be rotated for adjusting the airflow into the two airflow ways. The fastener 40 may be operated to position the baffle 30. Furthermore, the blocks 223 of the hooks 222 of the second duct 20 may be adjust to engage in different slots 123 of the first duct 10 to adjust the width of the fan duct.

Referring to FIGS. 6 and 7, in another embodiment, a fan duct includes a main body 60, a divider 70, a baffle 80 and a fastener 90. The main body 60 includes a base plate 62 and two sidewalls 64 extending from two opposite sides of the base plate 62. The base plate 62 and the sidewalls 64 together bound an airflow way, the airflow way includes an air inlet and an air outlet opposite to the air inlet. The divider 70 extends from a middle portion of the base plate 62 and between the sidewalls 64. The divider 70 is arranged from the air inlet to the air outlet, to divider the airflow way into first and second airflow ways. A first end of the baffle 80 pivotably is fixed to the main body 62 and is connected to the divider 70. A second end of the baffle 80 opposite to the first end rotates about the first end to adjust the airflow into the first and second airflow ways. The second end of the buffer 80 may be located at the air inlet with the fastener 90.
