Hand-carrying bag with cushioning protection

USPTO Application #: 20090169134
Title: Hand-carrying bag with cushioning protection
Abstract: A hand-carrying bag with cushioning protection in made of a blank including a plurality of longitudinally-extending laterally-spaced inflated cells, which are formed of overlapping layers that are fused to each other along opposite edges of the blanks and at locations between adjacent cells. The blank forms on opposite longitudinal ends with hand grips. Each cell is provided at a longitudinally middle section thereof with folding spots that are formed by fusing the layers together at small areas so as to allow opposite portions of the cells on the opposite side the spot to be folded to overlap and the folded portions of the edges fused to each other to form a circumferentially-enclosed and bottom bag. The inflated cells that form the circumference and the bottom of the bag provide cushioning protection to an article received in the bag. The hand grips allow the bag to be carried by hands. (a) Technical Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a hand-carrying bag, and in particularly to a hand-carrying bag featuring cushioning protection for carrying a fragile article or articles that are protected from undesired impacts.

(b) Description of the Prior Art

A regular hand-carrying bag is often made of plastics or paper. Such bags are convenient and cheap for carrying articles, but do not provide protection against external impact to the article carried. In other words, when the bag is used to carry a file article, such as a glass made article, since it does not provide cushioning protection against impact, the article carried may get damaged due to accidental impact by an external object. Cushioning materials, such as foamed substance, for example Styrofoam®, that is commonly known is not adequate for making a hand-carrying bag for carrying articles. Other known technology, such as Taiwan Utility Model Nos. M256361 and M293231, discloses cushioning realized with inflatable articles, which provide cushioning in the same way as the foamed substances and cannot be used to protect an article carried in a hand-carrying bag.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary purpose of the present invention is to provide a hand-carrying bag with cushioning protection, which in made of a blank comprising a plurality of longitudinally-extending laterally-spaced inflated cells, which are formed of overlapping layers that are fused to each other along opposite edges of the blanks and at locations between adjacent cells. The inflated cells that form the circumference and the bottom of the bag provide cushioning protection to an article received in the bag, such as fragile articles, including a glass-made article or fruits that may damage by external impacts. The hand grips allow the bag to be carried by hands.

The foregoing object and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts.

Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a developed view, in a perspective form, of a blank used to form a hand-carrying bag constructed in accordance with the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the hand-carrying bag constructed in accordance with the present invention; and

FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating the hand-carrying bag of the present invention holding therein a glass bottle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The following descriptions are of exemplary embodiments only, and are not intended to limit the scope, applicability or configuration of the invention in any way. Rather, the following description provides a convenient illustration for implementing exemplary embodiments of the invention. Various changes to the described embodiments may be made in the function and arrangement of the elements described without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

With reference to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 and 2, a hand-carrying bag in accordance with the present invention is formed of a blank 10 that is made up of a plurality inflated cells 11, which are preferably extending in a longitudinal direction and lined up in lateral direction. The inflated cells that are lined up in the lateral direction are spaced from each other by spacers 12 and the two edges 13 are provided outboards the opposite outermost cells 11. In the embodiment illustrated, the blank 10 is preferably made up of two overlap layers that are fixed to each other along opposite side margins to form the edges 13 and are also fixed to each other between adjacent cells 11 to form the spacers 12. Opposite longitudinal ends of the cells 111 form end flaps 14 that have a central cut-off to each form a hand-holding trip 14. Each cell 11 is provided at a middle section thereof, in the longitudinal direction, with small-area folding spots 15, which are also formed by fixed the two layers together. With the spots 15, the blank 10 is folded to have the portions thereof on opposite sides of the spots 15 overlapping each other and edges 13 being allowed to overlap and fuse together to form a circumferentially enclosed and bottomed body that may serve as a hand-carrying bag of which the circumference and the bottom are both constituted by the portions of the inflated cells 11. And the bag has a hand grip 14 at an open top end opposite to the bottom. Such a bag is adapted to receive and hold a fragile article, such as a glass container illustrated in FIG. 3. The spacers 12 function to allow the adjacent cells 11 to rotate with respect to each other thereby allowing the circumference of the bag to be expanded for receiving the article therein.

Although the present invention has been described with reference to the preferred embodiment thereof it is apparent to those skilled in the art that a variety of modifications and changes may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention which is intended to be defined by the appended claims.
