Portable cooler with built-in cutting and serving board description/claims

1. Field of the Invention

This patent relates to a portable cooler such as the kind used for picnics and other outdoor outings. More particularly, this patent relates to a portable, compartmented cooler having a built-in cutting and serving board.

2. Description of the Related Art

Portable compartmented coolers of the type used for picnics and other outdoor activities are well known. For instance, a number of patent references teach portable compartmented picnic type coolers, including U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,305,544 and 6,763,678 and published U.S. Patent Application Nos. 2002/0095974 and 2004/0262319. U.S. Pat. No. 4,964,528 teaches an adjustable partition for an ice chest that is secured by self-adhering guide bars. U.S. Pat. No. 5,975,334 and U.S. Published Patent Application No. 2002/0095947, teach picnic coolers having built in utensils.

However, none of the references teaches a portable picnic type cooler having a partition or divider that can be removed and used as a cutting and serving board. Thus is is an object of the invention to provide a cooler having a removable partition that can be used as a cutting and/or serving board.

Another object of the present invention to provide a portable cooler that has a cold, wet side and a dry side.

Still another object of the invention is to provide a cooler having stackable containers.

Yet another object of the invention is to provide a cooler having a built in cutting and serving board that also can be used to store utensils.

Further and additional objects will appear from the description, accompanying drawings, and appended claims.

The present invention is a portable cooler having a cold or wet side and a dry side separated by a removable partition that can be used as a cutting or serving board. The partition slides within a pair of opposed vertical channels formed in the walls of the cooler.

The partition comprises one or more slots for holding utensils. The slots may be vertical and formed into the top edge of the partition, or oriented horizontally or diagonally downward and formed into one or both of the side edges of the partition.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the portable cooler of FIG. 1 shown with the partition partially removed.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the portable cooler of FIG. 1 shown with the partition and cold side bin partially removed.
